A backyard party is a lot more fun when you have the important and fun tools with you. This article is all about that. We will be going through checklist of all the key items you should keep in mind while planning and throwing a backyard party. Shall we begin?
Grill:
What would you be eating while on your backyard? You don’t want to get a pizza delivered and you don’t want to access the home kitchen either. A quick solution can be using your backyard grill.

Fuel:
One common mistake is not having enough fuel for the grill and also for the fireplace if you are arranging any. Yes, most fun parties would like to enjoy a natural fire with wood, however, if that’s not an option, you can always use the fuel you have.
Cookware:
You want to make sure that you have enough cookware to eat the grill or even beer or soft drinks. At the same time, you want to make sure that you got enough dinnerware to serve the food after they are cooked.
Chair and Table:
How about having some chair and tables on your backyard depending on your guest list?
Do a quick count on your mind and depending on the number, keep enough chairs available. You should always have two to three tables so that people can easily access food and drinks.
Ice Bucket:
A cooler or an ice bucket will help your guests have cold beer and drinks on the go. You don’t want to go inside your kitchen refrigerator every time someone needs ice. You want to keep everything handy and an ice bucket always helps.
Sunscreen:
If it is a sunny day and you are out on your backyard, a sunscreen will come handy. You definitely would want to put sunscreen on yourself but you would also want to keep it available for your guests so that they don’t get burnt.
Shelter:
A sunscreen might not be enough as you or your guests might want to take a nap in somewhere comfy. A popup canopy would be an ideal choice in this scenario.

Lights:

The good news is that you don’t have to think about electricity and wire management anymore for a backyard party. There are lights that you can buy on any good store or Amazon that will run on rechargeable battery and you can get some of those to light up your backyard.
Speaker:
Is it even a party if you don’t have access to good music? Fortunately, with the help of science, we don’t need to carry music DVDs anymore but we sure need speakers. You should have cables ready so that everyone can play their own music if they decide to do it from there phone.
Of course, you can go one step further and order a Bluetooth speaker so that your guests can connect their cellphone with the speaker directly.
However, a few cables would be the minimum that you want to do. Don’t rely too much on your guests’ music choice and keep a pen drive or your phone loaded with good music. That will help you save the party at some point.
Towels:
A backyard party can get steamy and sweaty at times, especially if you are organizing it on a summer day. The good news is that there are a lot that you can do about it. One simple hack is to have towels handy for your guests.
Depending on how many guests you will have, order 5-6 towel sets on Amazon and keep them near to your food table or even on top of chairs. Your guests will find them if they need ‘em.
Flip Flops:
Many, while relaxing, would want to get rid of their shoes. Shoes are great as a formal wear or even as a casual wear but when you are on a backyard party, you want to go for something casual. They might not be able to bring flip flops with them and you should think ahead about that to keep their feet covered.
Of course, it is not important to have exactly the right number of pairs for your guests because not everyone will go for a flip flop. However, you want to keep the option open if they decide to go for one.
Wi-Fi:
One interesting idea is to bring a Wi-Fi router to the backyard so that your friends and guests can enjoy internet while they are having delicious grill or a beer. Of course, you want to make sure that they are posting about their awesome experience on social media too and Wi-Fi certainly helps when it comes to that.
Other than these basic and most important items on our checklist, you can go one step further and order mosquito repellents, gaming devices or at least board games and a few engagement activity boosters such as ping pong table to keep the party engaging.
However, we are not listing these in our list of essential backyard party items as they will vary from person to person. Also, do not worry too much if you miss anything from the essential list. This is a list to guide you and not to force you get everything.
