Our Best Tent For Farmer’s Market Reviews and Comparisons

1. VIVOHOME Slant Leg Easy Pop Up Canopy – Blue

Product Highlights

Every stand starts somewhere and this Vivohome canopy is an easy-to-set-up waterproof Oxford fabric canopy with a stainless steel frame. The white powder coat finish is resistant to chipping and keeps rust at bay and when you take it down you store this humble stall in an included black zippered bag. Think of it as the selling-shade you need in a portable package!

Features

  • 8 x 8 feet UV resistant canopy
  • Pop-lock frame for easy setup and takedown
  • Weighs just 21 pounds

What We Like About the VIVOHOME Slant Leg Easy Pop Up Canopy

The setup of the steel frame is indeed a cinch with the pop-lock mechanism and the portability is certainly nice. The white powder coat wears well and helps to protect the frame so this canopy can get you started and won’t break the bank in the process.

What We Don’t Like About the VIVOHOME Slant Leg Easy Pop Up Canopy

An option to add a logo would have been nice and the ‘wide stance’ may be undesirable depending on the visualized presentation of your goods.

PROS

  • Easy setup
  • UV resistant fabric
  • Rust and chip-resistant frame
  • Lightweight

CONS

  • Self-customization only
  • Wide stance instead of a ‘box’ stance

2. E-Z UP Hi-Viz Utility Canopy – Green

Product Highlights

The E-Z Up Hi-Viz canopy gives you a little more shade with a much brighter presentation. This neon-green canopy is fire-resistant and has a silver undercoating that helps to keep those UV rays at bay. Setup is quick with the E-Z lock mechanism and your canopy comes with a convenient wheeled bag for easy transportation.

Features

  • 10 x 10 feet high visibility canopy
  • Silver undercoating for extra UV resistance
  • Easy setup
  • Wheeled bag for easy transport
  • Weighs in at 50 pounds

What We Like About the E-Z UP Hi-Viz Utility Canopy

The visibility factor is always important in a commercial canopy so the bright color of this model is much appreciated. The silver undercoat for extra UV resistance is nice as well and the wheeled bag comes in quite handy.

What We Don’t Like About the E-Z UP Hi-Viz Utility Canopy

While it is water-resistant it could use an extra chemical coat, as it soaks in enough moisture that a good dry-out is needed before repacking to avoid potential mold issues. Zippers on the bag could have been more heavy-duty as well.

PROS

  • High visibility
  • Quick setup
  • Additional UV protection
  • Comes with a wheeled bag

CONS

  • Retains a bit of moisture
  • Needs tougher zippers on the included bag

3. Kittrich Mighty-Steel Hex leg Canopy – Blue

Product Highlights

Kittrich brings their commercial-grade game to the table with the ‘Mighty Steel’ canopy. It’s got 600 Oxford polyester fabric which is water-resistant and flame retardant, incorporating nylon fittings and a durable steel frame with crossbars. This makes it quite durable and their design incorporates ‘EZ-Thumb locks’ to make the setup quick while also remaining ‘pinch-resistant’ to avoid any accidental collapse.

Features

  • 10 x 10 feet of water-resistant, flame-retardant canopy
  • Quick setup
  • No accidental release of the support frame
  • Very durable
  • Weight only 46 pounds

What We Like About the Kittrich Mighty-Steel Hex leg Canopy

The overall durability of this canopy really lets you know that you’ve got a commercial-grade product. It will not be falling apart soon. It only takes one person to set it up and the ‘pinch resistance’ is actually quite handy. If you’ve ever accidentally ‘unlocked’ a frame before you’ll appreciate this feature. With the carry-bag, it’s nice and portable too!

What We Don’t Like About the Kittrich Mighty-Steel Canopy

It would have been nice to be able to customize this but currently, this is something that you will have to get done on your own.

PROS

  • Commercial grade hex leg canopy
  • Pinch-resistance feature
  • One-person setup
  • Great Portability

CONS

  • No customization options

4. Caravan Canopy – 10 x 10

Product Highlights

Next up we have this Caravan Canopy and it starts things right with alloy steel, cathedral-style frame. The polyester canopy itself is water-resistant and boasts 99% UV protection in the bargain. This model has different height settings due to slider brackets in the design and it’s got a white-powder finish that is resistant to chipping and scratches. It weighs in at 50 pounds and is all packed up in its roller bag and even comes with a 2-year warranty. Not too shabby, we say.

Features

  • 10’ x 10’ base and 100 square foot polyester canopy
  • Adjustable to 3 height settings
  • UV and water-resistant
  • Weighs 50 pounds

What We Like About the Caravan Canopy

The overall durability seems to make this a good, reliable model, and the adjustability means you can have plenty of headroom or makes things a little cozier so that the shop looks packed. The ease of transport is good too and we like the 2-year warranty, as it shows that Caravan has confidence in their product.

What We Don’t Like About the Caravan Canopy

While durable, this canopy does take a little extra time to set up and you’ll want at least 2 people working together on it. High winds also are going to require some extra rope on your part as well, so prepare accordingly with this canopy.

PROS

  • Durable
  • Very portable
  • Adjustable model
  • 2-year warranty

CONS

  • Extra setup time
  • Additional lashings would be nice

5. Tistent Ez Pop-up Canopy

Product Highlights

Another adjustable canopy on our list is the Tistent Ez Pop-up Canopy and you’ll get a little extra shade with this one. The canopy itself is made of heavy-duty polyester fabric with a PU lining, meaning that you get 99% US protection and the material flame-retardant, too.

The frame for this canopy is steel and easy to set up and aside from your stakes and ropes you’ve also got 4 25-pound sandbags to help keep this canopy in place. This product also comes with a wheeled bag and a 1-year warranty, with sales service rates available after that for the lifetime of the product.

Features

  • 10 x 10 feet and adjustable height to 11.1 feet
  • Durable and sandbagged against high winds
  • 1-year warranty
  • Manageable 56-pound weight

What We Like About the Tistent Ez Pop-up Canopy

Overall we find this a great canopy, as it gives the resistance to the elements that you need and can be adjusted so that no one has to duck in your store. You can do some nice display work with your wares and the additional sandbags included can be filled and give you a little wind-security as well.

This canopy has proved quite resistant to heavy rain and wind in the field and we have to say that the 1-year warranty certainly doesn’t hurt our opinion of this product, either.

What We Don’t Like About the Tistent Ez Pop-up Canopy

Setup is going to be best done with 2 people, or 4 if you want it to go up very quickly. It is a little on the heavy side for some but for us, this was not a deal-breaker.

PROS

  • Great weather resistance
  • Excellent maximum height
  • 1-year warranty

CONS

  • Setup takes a little time
  • A bit heavy, but bearable

6. Elite Canopy Commercial-Grade Aluminum Pop-Up Canopy

Product Highlights

When you are ready for a logo then this Elite Canopy offering is a great way to start. It’s made from polyester that is flame retardant, water-resistant, and UV coated to boot! The hex leg frame is great too, skipping steel for lighter, durable anodized aluminum. The logos are even printed with UV-resistant ink, so when the time comes to upgrade from a standard, ‘blank’ canopy this might be the one that you need.

Features

  • 10 x 10 foot and 12 ft. high
  • Durable anodized aluminum framed canopy
  • Customizable with logo
  • 1-year fabric and 2-year frame warranty

What We Like About the Elite Commercial-Grade Aluminum Pop-Up Canopy

First off, we love the logo option, and employing UV resistant inks is great for keeping your logo looking good for a long time.  We also like that it’s tall, solid, and well-warrantied. This feels like a good investment when it’s time to give yourself a ‘brand’.

What We Don’t Like About the Elite Commercial-Grade Aluminum Pop-Up Canopy

This is a little heavy and setup can take a little longer but overall we were quite happy with this product (and the included roller bag does help to mitigate the heavier weight).

PROS

  • Customizable
  • Durable
  • Comes with a good warranty

CONS

  • Slightly heavy
  • Setup can be slow without assistance

7. Elite Canopy Commercial-Grade Steel Pop-Up Canopy

Product Highlights

When your business expands you’re going to need more space and this Elite Canopy provides that. It’s got the same heavy-duty polyester, so you’ve still got the UV protection, water resistance, and flame-retardant chemical treatment, but this one employs a steel frame and is twice as wide! When you are ready to move significant volume then this canopy is a good investment.

Features

  • 10 x 20 feet and 12 feet high
  • Customizable with logo or art of choice
  • Highly resistant to the elements
  • 127 pounds overall weight

What We Like About the Elite Commercial-Grade Steel Pop-Up Canopy

The powder-coated steel makes this hex leg canopy quite durable and the logo work really looks great. The extra 10 feet gives you quite a lot of space to work with as well and this model also comes with a 1-year fabric and 2-year frame warranty to help you to feel secure in your investment.

What We Don’t Like About the Elite Commercial-Grade Steel Pop-Up Canopy

You will want to make sure that it is well-tethered, as failure to do so can void out your warranty. This product does come with what you need to do that but you might want to invest in sandbags or other extra ways to secure it. Some additional walls would have been nice but we really can’t complain about this product.

PROS

  • Solid construction
  • Logo work is very professional
  • Extra-wide
  • Well-warrantied

CONS

  • Just be sure to secure it well to stay within warranty guidelines
  • Extra walls would be nice

8. Elite Commercial-Grade Aluminum Pop-Up Canopy

Product Highlights

Our final entry is the Elite Canopy Commercial-grade Pop-up and it’s got quite the look to it, as you can see. Rather than a simple tent suspension overhead you’ve got some solid, logo-bearing walls that give your brand a little weight. It’s got 500 denier polyester like the other Elite models and comes with a thumb-latch aluminum frame and with the large size, this is the next best thing to an actual building.

Features

  • 10 x 20 foot with a 12-foot height
  • Multiple logo locations to saturate the brand
  • Full back, open-air design with mini wall sides
  • 160-pound weight

What We Like About the Elite Commercial-Grade Aluminum Pop-Up Canopy

We like the addition of the walls combined with the open-air design. You really get a chance to get your name out there with so much logo placement and you’ve got plenty of space to fill with the fruits (and veggies) of your labors. With the accompanying warranty, it feels like a secure purchase that should last for many, many seasons.

Setup takes a little time but in all fairness, this is a good-looking canopy and we really can’t complain.

PROS

  • Professional looking
  • Durable
  • Creative control with multiple customized areas
  • Warranty protection

CONS

  • None at this time

Final Verdict

So, now that we’ve gone through the various models and given out some praise and criticism nuggets we’d have to say that our favorite, hands-down, is the Elite Commercial-Grade Aluminum Pop-Up Canopy.

It not only has the kind of space that a booming business needs but it has that professional look that you can only get from a commercial-grade canopy.

That said, all of the products which we have reviewed today have performed quite well and so if you need something a little more humble to start with then any one of these is an excellent suggestion. So, what are you waiting for? This is going to be a great year at the Farmer’s Market!

Buyers Guide

When you are looking for your first canopy there are a few things that you will want to keep in mind. Aside from price, here are a few things that you will want to be sure to consider.

Choose quality metal and treated quality fabrics
They cost a little more on your initial investment but you want that UV protection, water resistance, flame-retardant treatment and you want it on cloth that isn’t going to rip or tear easily. There are also additional treatments you can procure and use to improve durability but it’s better to armor-up at the actual time of canopy-purchase and save those treatments for a few years down the line.

Weight of your canopy
Farmer’s markets are generally going to have some weight requirements and it is important that you pay close attention. This rule is in place for safety, as a canopy that is too light is at risk of falling over or flying off into people and other stalls. Check your local requirement and you might want some sandbags for a little extra safety.

Setup time
Setup should be a fairly quick process without requiring a lot of special tools. That said, some canopies which take a little longer to set up are well worth the time for the durability that they bring to the table.

Ventilation
Side walls are great but the best designs don’t over-use them. Be sure that you go with a design that gives a little privacy but still helps to ensure good airflow. People don’t like shopping as much when it’s too warm. Low side walls can be a great compromise to give you the look of a ‘framed store’ without compromising ventilation, so they are something to consider.

Ease of transport
Finally, be sure that you go with a model that isn’t going to take up too much space and that doesn’t weigh too much. Those wheeled bags can help but you might want to consider investing in a spare if your canopy is a little on the heavy side. You never know when a wheel might lock up at the worst possible time, so it’s best to be prepared!
